Healing through song.
Planina - Songs of Eastern Europe presents Bat’onebis Simghera, a traditional healing song from the Imereti region of the Republic of Georgia. In uncertain times humans yearn for comfort, perhaps the comfort of a lullaby sung softly in the dark of night. As the world grapples with climate change, racism, political unrest, and the spread of a pandemic, Planina turns to a quiet song we’ve loved for a long time.

We are all brothers.
Musicians from Colorado’s Klezmer, Balkan, and Mediterranean music scene got together (figuratively) to play the classic Klezmer tune Ale Brider (All Siblings). This song reminds us that we’re all connected. Even if we can’t sing and dance together, we’re all still siblings and children of the world! Keep an eye out for a cameo from yours truly in the second verse!
Since COVID-19 disrupted our lives, the community aspect of music-making has been driven online. The real home for many of these groups, The Mercury Cafe, is in real danger of closing. Consider supporting the heart of the Denver music scene and contribute to their GoFundMe Campaign: https://gf.me/u/yjrxhb
Contributing artists include members of: Gora Gora Orkestar, Hadgaba, Hal Aqua and the Lost Tribe, Meg York, Planina, Sheldon Sands, Sherefe, and Roma Ransom.
